REMOVE YOUR DOOR PANELS

THE PARTS LIST

This is your door panel in case you didn't know. Since all 4 doors are removed similarly, I'll pick on the front passenger door. It's actually really straight forward with just one little trick explained below. It would also be to your advantage to use electrical tape to wrap your flat screwdriver heads or other prying devices as to avoid scratching.

Remove the tweeter panel. Simply pull it away from the door. There are 2 stupid clips holding it in place from behind.

Pry off the door handle trim with a small flathead screwdriver, as pictured below. There's a small pry space to insert the tip of the screwdriver, and pry piece away from the handle. It'll snap off pretty easily from the bottom side first, and then the top side.

Under the handle trim you will find 2 phillips screws to unscrew. Use a hammer and blow torch to unscrew these screws. While you have the screwdriver in your hand, you might as well take off the stupid plastic clip. Give it a little turn, then pop out the whole clip with a small flathead screwdriver.

Remove the stupid bezel. Very easy step to mess up, but once mastered, you'll become a true Jedi. Gotta note here that if you do not have patience, you WILL SCRATCH YOUR DOOR. Find the secretly hidden screw, and use your small fat head, I mean small flat head screwdriver to pop off the little cover and expose your little screwer, I mean the little screw.

Now the fun part. Sprinkle your magic pixie dust to remove the bezel!

There are two places to try when you screw, I mean there are two places to pry with your screwdriver. If you are Pilipino, dis is not da flace you fut your prents pry. This is where you pry the bezel away from the pivoting rod of the door lever. Many different methods may work, and typically I do both pry points at once because my ears are hairy like Yoda. With the screwdriver in just the upper pry point, gently pry the bezel point away from the door lock button, which means the handle of your screwdriver will be moving downward. There will be a certain point of prying that the top portion of the bezel can be popped out.

Why the heck are you crying, I mean prying? In the picture above, I tried to hilight what your screwdriver hits when you insert it into the top pry point. There is a small, almost half-dome shaped rod that stick up about 1/4" from the door lock button, and also below the door lever below the lower pry point. The back of the bezel has two holes that line up with the pivoting rods and rest on them. The purpose of prying is to pop off the bezel holes from those little pivoting rods!

Pop off the door dude! Starting from the bottom edge of the plastic door panel, gently pull the panel from the the door. It is held in place with 7 stupid white clips, and one really obvious twist-screw type clip.

As you pull you'll feel each clip release itself, or pop off the door. After you feel 7 little ker-schlunks, lift the whole door panel upwards to remove the door. Any clip left in the door itself, gently pop it off and place it in it's appropriate place in the back of the door panel that you just removed.

Depending on what you options you have, there may be different wire harnesses to disconnect. Since I have power locks and power windows, I had two. Now with the door panel hanging by some cables, here's a picture of the backside of the door panel with what's holding it to the door.

There are two cables harnesses in the picture, and they disconnect by depressing the depressable part on the harness. That dangling harness was from the stock tweeters, but since I rewired my speaker wires, that's left over crud. Your door should now be naked!

Please feel free to if you have any questions. Happy RAV'n!
