KONI SPORT Adjustable Shocks

I really didn't like the stock suspension of the RAV, even from the day I took it for a test drive. I noticed it was very mushy and felt like it was floating and twisting around on the freeway at higher speeds. Most people may like this because to them it gives the RAV a car-like ride, however I wanted something a little firmer. I read tons of rumors about shock/strut makers having upgrades for the '01 RAV, which sits on independent McPherson struts with L-shaped control arms and a stabilizer bar, but after contacting all of the shock/strut companies I could find, no one had anything for an '01 RAV.

I noticed had part numbers for the European RAVs. (Definitely worth noting again that I have a 2001 RAV4).

...but talking to their very friendly technical support, they explained that it may not fit, particularly since Toyota has changed suspensions on the Corolla making the parts incompatible. To make a really long(like half a year!) story short, I tore apart my stock suspension to take detailed pictures and measurements, sent them to their technical support, and they agreed that it looked like it would fit, so they had a set delivered to me from Holland, which itself took a few months.

They finally came in, and now I'm the happy-go-lucky owner of some kick-a$$ Koni Sport adjustable shocks! Total night and day difference, and the car feels infinitely more stable than the mushy stockie shockies. If I want a stiffer ride, I can easily pop the hood and twist the knob! It's great having that flexibility. If you wanna try to install them yourself, here's .

Please feel free to if you have any questions. Happy RAV'n!
