I really like the spare tire cover that my RAV came with, particularly since it matched the grey of the bumper and other trim. It had cheap vinyl sticker letters spelling "TOYOTA", but they actually fell off when I was washing the car. I liked how clean it looked just plain grey. The only thing I did not like was the fact that it takes all but 5 seconds for a thief to take it away, so I decided to replace it with something lockable... just for preventative maintenance.
Of course I like the stock hard cover, but at around $400, I decided to fiberglass my own. Old school "van conversions" back in the '70s weren't hip unless they had a cool tire cover, and I chose to go with one of those since they do have some with a nice and shiney trim ring. I knew these things were MUCH cheaper than the $400 stock hard cover. I found mine for around $70 at
. It came with the locking ring, and flat paintable disc cover. No, it doesn't rattle, and it's a perfect fit! :)
Since I liked to curves of the stock, tire cover, I used that as a mold to create a hybrid cover... so the final product was a stock looking cover with a shiney ring, which matched all of my other chrome trim wonderfully. Below are pictures of my fiberglass frenzy. The finished cover sure does make for a great matching sparkle! If you're interested in doing anything fiberglass, here's
I worked with the smelly stuff to build a speaker box.

if you have any questions. Happy RAV'n!
